Women Go in Pairs

Baby Bjorn Little PottyWe had a great EC kind of weekend! Now that Sasha can sit up so well (even better on her BBLP!), I moved her potty from the kitchen counter, where I could support her back easily, to the bathroom floor. It sits in the corner, directly across from the toilet. So now in the morning, as usual, I take Sasha's diaper off, then bring her downstairs to her potty. Only now, I go at the same time. No more rushing to go before her or holding it to go after her. I hate doing the pee pee dance while trying not to rush her. This new system is working very well. I sit on the potty every time she does. Talk about a signal to go! Now she hears Mommy pee and she pees. I still throw in the verbal signal, too. heh

I keep an extra BBLP in the car. She used it at Grandma & Grandpa's this weekend, too!

Complex Carbohydrate?

I made Potato Soup at Gran's last night. Started with water, potatoes, onions, celery and ham. Before adding any milk or cream, I pulled some potatoes out to cool. Sasha had them in her mesh feeder. She liked them! She chewed and sucked on the mesh. The soup was wonderful. I can't wait to have it leftover for lunch today, it'll be even better!

I think the hardest part for me is getting past my preconceived notions that she shouldn't try any more than 1 ingredient every three days. Yeah, she could react to the celery, onions, potatoes OR the ham. But... it isn't likely anyway. They aren't high allergy foods and I don't really have any food allergies. Neither does her Daddy.

So... yay for a little potato soup for Sasha! Maybe I'll boil or bake another potato for her soon.

Adventure in a Spoon

Tonight I put some Garlic Cauliflower into the blender with some hot water. Then I mushed it up some more with a fork. Then... adventure time! I put a bib on Sasha and we set up at her high chair. Her tray is so tiny that my little plate wouldn't fit flat on it! She liked grabbing handfuls of the mush. She even put the spoon in her mouth. She was curious about this new texture, but didn't really eat a lot.

Introduction to Solids

Sasha with Garlic CauliflowerWe (Sasha & I) are figuring out this whole eating real food thing. She has tried plain steamed carrots. Ew. Really? I want her to eat what I eat, what was I thinking? Yes, I ate the carrots, too. They were... a little awful. She has also tried Garlic Cauliflower. Now we're talkin'! I feel kind of bad, though, for using something out of a bag, pre-seasoned. The ingredient list wasn't too long, though it did have soy in it. She hasn't had any reaction, though, other than liking it!

I'd like to try yogurt, but I'm nervous there, too. I've read that it is okay because the live culture breaks down the milk fats that can be so difficult for babies to digest. It seems like a great in-between food. I have rice cereal, but I only have a little breast milk frozen for emergencies. (I'd mix the cereal with milk, not water.) I haven't been pumping since she has gone on a complete bottle strike. She will just wait until Mommy gets home.

So that is where things stand. I need to research yogurt some more (if anyone reading this has advice, I'm all eyes!). I'll serve leftover cauliflower tomorrow.

Baby Feet!

I love baby feet! Even when I don't have a baby of my own, I just think baby feet are some of the most wonderful things in the world. I wanted to share here one thing that is wonderful about baby feet...

Sasha's feet

When you kiss the middle of a baby foot, the foot is just right for the baby to wrap their toes around your nose. I don't guess I can explain why, exactly, that is so great, but it is.
