I have that cast iron griddle! Love it - needs to be seasoned (even though it came "pre seasoned"). You could put it in a hot oven (which seems really hot for a travel trailer) BUT if you have a grill or a campfire, I like to do bacon, then use the bacon grease to season the pan - hot temperature for a long time.
ReplyDeleteIt is SO heavy, right?! Crazy! I'm planning to go ahead and season it, even though I've used it several times. I'm debating between coconut oil or bacon grease. I make bacon for hubby often enough I could use that.
DeleteI'm hoping we have some more cool days coming up so I can do it. Actually... I hope it FITS in my oven! I haven't used the oven yet. Our sales guy warned that people always burn stuff in them because they're so small (less space for the heat).
It goes great stovetop too and, when you start traveling and staying at campgrounds, it will be great on a grill grate. I haven't ever tried seasoning with coconut oil. I think that I read an article that recommended flax oil as the "best" oil for cast iron because of it high smoking point. The best season on any of my cast iron happened when I tried to fry something and caught the oil on fire. It was perfect for about a year.
DeleteI love the little boy babylegs! I have seen a ton of them for little girls, but you don't see many for boys. How do you take pictures of your kids without waking them up? My boys typically wake up if I try to take the cute sleeping pictures!
ReplyDeleteI am a total sucker for sleeping shots and start taking them from birth... maybe they get used to it. If its very dark I can't do it, though.
DeleteLoving all the sleep shots this week haha! :)
ReplyDeleteI *love* sleeping pics! I've done entire WW posts of them. :-)
DeleteI have babylegs just like that! :) Love the picture of Sasha hugging King, too. What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteLove all the photos of the napping angels, makes your week look really peaceful ;) Not loving the photo of King so much, I have a serious phobia with spiders, which doesn't work so well here in Africa where I see at least 3 a day in the house... eeek.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are settled in your new home :)
