Sunday Surf: Secret Microwave Questions

This week we celebrated my husband's birthday. I started my dread project! Spencer had his 6 month well child check up. And I've been discovering that Spencer likes to play a little rough (upside down, thrown in the air just a little, swinging in my arms, that sort of thing). That has been my week! Here are a few interesting links for you!

Why did the Russians Ban an Appliance Found in 90% of American Homes?

Like I needed more reasons not to use the microwave. I'd really like to get completely away from it, I just don't see it happening - especially in this Summer heat! Have you managed to get rid of your microwave? I know people who have.

40 Questions That Get Kids Talking

Conversations build connection, be it friends or family. Perhaps this list will help me make a more positive parenting connection, especially with my teenage daughter.

This story is one of those that will renew your faith in the human race. I don't often get teary-eyed from sappy stuff in the news, but this one... by the time I got most of the way through this one I was definitely dabbing away tears. These people are amazing! And what a fun way to help.

  1. Our old apt had one built in and we used it a bunch. When we bought a house there was no room for one so we never got one. 3 yrs later and we never miss it. Re-heating is my biggest thing I used a micro for and now I use the toaster oven or a pan on the stove. I do wonder how much more electricity we use cookin or re-heating without a micro.

    1. Excellent point / observation! I just learned that we can't run the A/C and the microwave at the same time in our travel trailer or I blow a circuit or whatever they're called in these things.

We don't even have room for a toaster oven. I've always thought they were kinda cool... probably because I've never had one. I have a toaster, an immersion blender and a mixer. I don't have any other small appliances.

We use our microwave for heating syrup (I hate cold syrup!) and frozen convenience foods, mostly.
