Monday Minimalist: The Story of Stuff

Annie Leonard did a little 20 minute cartoon called The Story of Stuff. It is actually an entire project on reducing consumerism. Someone recommended the book to me and when I found the DVD at my local library, I requested it. I had no idea how long it would be. It is quite short and watches like an afternoon special you might see on PBS. Annie explains where stuff comes from, where it goes, how it gets there, and who it effects. She also talks about how the government here in the U.S. decided to make us a country of consumers, above all else. What a disgusting thought!

So here's the thing, consuming less can help the world! Did you know that only 1% of crap we purchase in the United States is still in our homes 6 months later? Crap is built to fall apart! The video is very short and you will learn something. If you're interested in a sustainable future, you should check out this project!
